ADHD and Anxiety Issues

There. I did it. I wrote the words in a public domain.

You know it's kind of ironic that I'm struggling just writing those words since my son is possibly struggling with the definition of those words every minute of his life. I say possibly as we're still in the throes of testing, but we already have some fairly definitive results.

So I guess we're still in shock. I guess we're still partly in denial. All these little things that we considered just his personality and cute little quirks have a label. Who would have thought?? I mean we weren't in complete denial, we knew something just didn't seem right and the tantrums and self absorbed behavior was just escalating. But who looks at their baby and sees this as more than just a stage. We sure as hell initially didn't.

So now the only way is up. We finish the testing, we work in conjunction with the specialists and school to help him be the best he can be. Because right now he's not happy. And it breaks my heart.

I have a confession to make

For those of you that are Fb friends, you might remember the Globe sock fiasco. Here's the link to refresh your memory: Globe sock fiasco

Well I have a confession to make. Yesterday while hunting for socks (all our black socks are dumped in one drawer because, well because I'm a shithouse house wife), the first pair that I pulled out happened to be his globe ones. Rather than screw up my nose at the tryhardness of them, I thought stuff it, I'm only wearing them to work so no one will know. But I'm coming clean because they are the most comfortable socks EVAH. But Shhhh. Don't tell Brian that.

The bane of my existance

Clutter. Well clutter and this:
(See here for the explanation)

So back to the clutter. Most people will know that we moved house only two months ago. So really there is no excuse for clutter considering I still have approximately 30 odd boxes of unpacked "stuff" in my garage. But yet I still have it. I honestly don't know what's wrong with me. Apart from certain places (which Brian has now coined my "caves") the rest of the house is clean and tidy. It's just my piles of stuff that hasn't been put away properly.

So let me introduce you to what Brian means by a cave. Here are two of them taken at what I would consider probably their worst in September last year.
The kitchen bench
The top of the expedit
So I went to town on these and eradicated them so by the time we moved we'd been living cave free for a little while. But the cavewoman in me has returned and I'm ashamed to say she's back in fine form again. Here in my new place, I have these:
The top of the expedit
The kitchen bench
Anyone else out there have clutter "issues"? I think I need help.

Snap back to reality

Sometimes all it takes is a conversation from a random stranger to make you realise that when you feel like your life is passing you by that really it's only beginning.

There was a women I served today. She was lovely and chatty and was asking for help with sizing. She was purchasing a first birthday gift for a good friend's son and was unsure of sizes as he was born at 26 weeks and was still quite small for his age. We where chatting throughout this conversation when she told me how much she spoils this little boys and she adores him.

Her and her husband became friends of the little boys parents through meeting at the hospital. She too had a child that was premature and they bonded over their hospital stay. As she said, it's hard as only a parent in there can really understand what you're going through and they forged a great friendship through it. I take my hat off to this strong, gorgeous woman - her baby girl never went home with her, yet here she was telling me all about her friends little boy. At the end of the conversation she said that one day she'd give that little boy another little girlfriend. I really hope in my heart of hearts that she can.

You know what, not five minutes before I served her I was complaining about being woken up at 5am yet again by my kids. Reality, I just got me some.

New Kids on the block - Gee, do you think we're building with Simonds

So much for running a few days behind, today we have a fence with Simonds netting right across the front of the block and a portaloo too.  And we're off.
